The family of Christie Rae Smith of Quincy, IL announces her passing, and invites all who knew her to remember her here.

Behind every name is a life, and behind every life are the people who loved it.

Christie spent her working life as ['various businesses in the Quincy area as a secretary'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Grief is love with nowhere left to go.

Christie Rae Smith, age 53, of Quincy, died Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Blessing Hospital.

Christie was born May 18, 1972. Born and raised in Quincy, she was a 1990 graduate of Quincy High School and later attended John Wood Community College. Over the years, Christie worked for various businesses in the Quincy area as a secretary, cashier, and delivery driver, among other things. She was well known in the Quincy Community and had many friends. Her infectious personality and quick wit left a lasting impression on all those she met. In her spare time she enjoyed thrifting, garage sales, and jigsaw puzzles. She took great pride in beautifying the neighborhood with her meticulously tended flower garden. Christie cherished her family above all else. She loved family trips to amusement parks, Fun City, Knights Action Park, and Six Flags, among others. Memories of the laughter, the excited screams, the thrill of a roller coaster on a warm summer day will continue to warm the hearts of her sons.

Survivors include: two sons, Jaeden Smith and Damien Maynor of Quincy; a special nephew and bonus son, Robbie Jewell of Springfield, MO; four siblings, Dr. David (Fran) Smith of Summerville, SC, Jeffrey Smith of Osage Beach, MO, Teresa Smith of Quincy, and Kim (Travis) Higgins of Virginia, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Christie was preceded in death by: a son in infancy, Clinton Jack Daniels, her father, Carl Richard "Dick" Smith, and her brother, Gary D. Smith.

Visitation: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Monday, May 11, 2026, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Services: 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Dirks officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery.
