After a life of love and quiet grace, Rick Rodgers of Quincy, IL has passed.

The following words honor a life that mattered to many.

Rick spent his working life as ['Awerkamp Machine and then at Quincy Compressor'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Family is the thread that runs through every story.

Richard Leon "Rick" Rodgers, Jr., of Quincy, died on May 3, 2026 at 3:01 pm in Blessing Hospital.

Rick was born on July 9, 1959, in Quincy, Illinois, a son of Richard Leon and Martha Huseman Rodgers.

He was a graduate of Quincy High School. He was employed as a boiler operator at Quincy Soybean for many years. He was also we welder, and later worked at Awerkamp Machine and then at Quincy Compressor, until they closed.

Rick was a talented jack of all trades who could fix just about anything. He enjoyed stock car racing, and loved to watch dirt track and motorcross races. Rick had two Chevrolet Camaros, a 1967 and 1969.

Survivors include his mother, Martha Rodgers, of Quincy; a sister, Anita (Mark) Conkright of Baylis, IL; a niece, Amanda (Chad) Manton of Ursa, IL; a nephew, Bryan Glas of Quincy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Leon Rodgers, and his grandparents, Roy and Ruby Rodgers, and Arthur and Mildred Huseman.

Graveside Service: 11:00 am on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Quincy Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
