Family is the thread that runs through every story.
Mildred "Millie" Ann Gilland Hansford, age 79, of Moncks Corner, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday morning, April 28, 2026. Born on March 21, 1947, in Louisville, KY, she was the cherished daughter of Melvin L. Gilland, Sr. and Sarah Mildred Dodge Gilland-Molnar.
Millie enjoyed a fulfilling career as a quality control inspector for Gallo Glass Winery and previously worked as a medical assistant. She was devoted to her Baptist faith and found joy in flower and vegetable gardening. Millie loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, hosting family dinners, and sharing her love of cooking. She was adored by everyone she met, and her grandchildren lovingly called her "Grandma."
Her hobbies included painting ceramics, baking, and knitting. Millie also enjoyed traveling-visiting lakes, trips to Colorado to see her father-in-law, going to the ocean, and exploring casinos. She treasured going on fishing trips with her husband. Millie graduated from San Leandro High School.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Scott Hansford and Michael E. Hansford.
Millie is survived by her devoted husband of sixty years, Larry Eugene Hansford; her daughter, Denise Torres (Chris) of Goose Creek; her brother, Jerry Gilland of TN; six grandchildren: Courtney Boughton (Billy), Caitlyn Inabinet (Andrew), Michaela Hansford, Michael E. Hansford, Jr., Amber Hansford, and Jeremy Hansford; and eight great-grandchildren: William, Josephine, Jackson, Cameron, Hudson, Nolan, Benjamin, and Brielle.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date, according to Dial-Murray Funeral Home in Moncks Corner.
Millie's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be fondly remembered for the joy she brought to so many lives.
