Milo Clyde Meyers, a devoted husband, father, and a cornerstone of the Rochester community, passed away peacefully at his home on May 4, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born on June 18, 1935, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, Milo was the son of Chris and Pearl Meyers. His lifelong journey of faith began at the Church of Peace, where he was baptized in 1935 and confirmed in 1949. A proud graduate of the Rochester school system, Milo attended Northrop Elementary and Central Junior High before graduating from Rochester Senior High at the Coffman Building in 1954.
Shortly after graduation, Milo began a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Audrey Nela Higgins. They were united in marriage on November 6, 1955, and together they shared over 70 years of devotion, raising their four children.
Milo was a man of tireless energy and work ethic. His career with the Rochester Public Schools spanned over 33 years, beginning in 1960. Through his dedication and skill, he rose to become the Custodial Engineer in charge of John Marshall High School, retiring on January 2, 1994. Even while managing his responsibilities at the school, Milo spent over 32 years as a custodian at Colonial Lanes and worked for several years with Osco Drug and Hunt Drug Store.
Milo was a passionate advocate for youth, helping to establish the Rochester Park and Recreation Youth Baseball and Basketball programs, where he spent many years coaching and mentoring young athletes. In 1951, he was instrumental in founding the local church softball league and served as its president for many years. A dedicated leader in Scouting, he served as Assistant Scoutmaster and then Scoutmaster for Troop 111 for a combined 15 years, guiding countless young men.
In his retirement, Milo's heart for service never wavered. He spent years volunteering at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home-serving on their board and driving the resident bus-and remained an active member of the Peace Church council and Alter committee. Later in life he joined his current congregation at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Milo is survived by his loving wife, Audrey; sister Sandra Johnson; his children, Bruce, Brian (Mary), Mike (Deborah), and Tabitha; niece Mary Jo (Scott); 12 grandchildren; and his 26 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Pearl; his infant brother, LeRoy; and brother Ken Meyers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in Milo's honor to Bethel Lutheran Church The Salvation Army, or Season's Hospice, three organizations that reflected his spirit of giving and faith.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Monday, May 11 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
