Hagen was born on August 27, 1933, in Swift County, the son of Cornel and Viola (Bertina) Hagen.  He grew up in the Pennock area and graduated from Willmar High School in 1951.  In January of 1953, he joined the U.S. Air Force and spent most of his years of service stationed in Japan during the Korean war.  He was honorably discharged in September of 1956.  He was saved by grace, washed in the blood of the Lamb on August 26, 1956, one day from his natural birthday.  He expressed many times that shortly before reaching his parked vehicle at the close of a gospel meeting, he realized that “Christ died for me”.  He was received into fellowship in September of 1962 in the Willmar assembly.During his life he had many different jobs but was best known for his career as a barber for nearly 60 years. The majority of that, in his Shop, Ron’s Barber shop. After closing his barber shop, he continued to serve the local nursing homes, cutting the hair of longtime customers that could no longer get out.He was married to Janet Hopkins on July 27, 1957.  After 10 years of marriage, they welcomed their only child, Michael.  Ron was surrounded during his life with family and friends that meant the world to him.  He always greeted people with a smile and a laugh that was cheering and contagious.  He lived his life with great affection for his Savior first and foremost, and of course his family and friends.  His home was always open, that many can attest to.  A dining room table that always seemed to be filled with family, friends, and visitors alike. He is survived by his son, Michael (Laura) Hagen; three grandchildren, Kelsi (Ryan) Ervin, Michael (Amy) Hagen, Haili (Carlos) Andrade; ten great grandchildren; and one sister, Sharolyn; besides many other family members, including nieces and nephews that were treated and loved as his own.He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; his parents, Leonard and Viola Hagen; and three brothers, Glenn, Marlen and Kenneth.
