The family of Susan M. "Sue" Binnert of Rochester, NY announces her passing, and invites all who knew her to remember her here.
A life is more than dates on a stone; here is a small portion of her story.
Susan spent her working life as ['medical secretary employed in various departments at Strong Memorial Hospital'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Memory has a way of softening time.
Susan M. Binnert died at the age of 80 years old on April 24, 2026 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Known as "Sue", she was born to Robert L Binnert and Dorothy F (Kelly) Binnert on January 10, 1946, in Rochester, NY.
After graduating from Gates Chili High School she attended Rochester Business Institute followed by a career as a medical secretary employed in various departments at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Sue started her family young marrying at the age of 19 and having her 4 th and final child at the age of 25 whom she and her husband raised in West Irondequoit. She was active in her kids' schools where she was room mother and troop leader for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Opportunity in the 1980s brought the family to North Central Texas but in 1990 Sue returned to Rochester to start the next chapter of her life close to family where she reconnected with old friends.
Sue absolutely loved music of all genres and was an avid reader. That Binnert gene in Sue also sparked her creative side coming through in a variety of art forms including drawing, painting, calligraphy, knitting, crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch, writing and more.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and oldest daughter Colleen. She is survived by her son Timothy J Sweeney Jr and daughter in law Carol, grandsons Kyle Callan and Chad (Tearra) Callan, great granddaughter Elliana, daughters Alana Sweeney and Erin Sweeney, grandsons Sean (Jessica) Carter and Adam Carter and many extended family members.
A celebration of life will be planned in the Rochester area Summer 2026.
