It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Thomas W. "Tom" Hussar of Rochester, NY — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

The following words honor a life that mattered to many.

Thomas held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Faith is the language some lives are written in. Thomas's was one.

Thomas W. Hussar passed away suddenly on April 24, 2026 at the age of 72. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Laurie Hussar; his loving son Jason (Beth) Hussar and daughter Jennifer Pavone; his beloved grandchildren: Maxton and Marleigh Pavone, Liam and Mila Lighthouse, and Tommy Hussar; his siblings: Michael (Barbara) Hussar, David (Donna) Hussar, Edward Hussar, Christine (Steve) Hall; also many other beloved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Augustina Hussar.

Tom's love and passion was working with wood. He learned the skill in high school and continued this work throughout his life. He loved building furniture, kitchens, bathrooms, and any other remodeling projects. He started his own business, Hussar Kitchens, back in the 1970's and became a Certified Kitchen Designer.

Tom had a lifelong love for playing baseball and played from when he was a child up until just a couple years ago. He also was extremely creative and invented a board game called Clichebles which sold around the country for many years. He enjoyed the years he attended Toy Fair in NYC and promoting his game. Tom also loved the Adirondacks, especially White Lake where he built two cottages over his lifetime.

Tom devoted his life to his wife, his children and grandchildren. He cherished family time and time with friends. He was also ready and willing to help anyone that was in need of a helping hand. Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

His memorial service will be held Friday, May 1, at 1:00 p.m. at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 3760 Culver Road, Irondequoit. There will be a Celebration of Tom's Life after the service from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Shadow Lake Golf and Restaurant, 1850 Five Mile Line Road, Penfield.
