Norma Jean Hildebrand of Oklahoma City, OK has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.
Some lives speak quietly; her is one such story.
To raise a child is to give the world a future. Norma did this with care.
Norma Jean Hildebrand, 91, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026.
Born November 1, 1934, in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma, to Dennis and Hazel Barbee, Norma grew up in rural Oklahoma. She graduated from Cowden High School and attended business school in Oklahoma City, where she met Jerry, her loving husband. They married and shared more than 71 wonderful years together.
Norma was a loving mother to her children and a proud grandmother to her grandchildren. She adored spending time with her great-grandchildren and treasured moments with her sisters and her parents, especially while the family was stationed at Clinton Sherman AFB in Burns Flat, Oklahoma in the 1960s and after moving to Oklahoma City in 1973.
Norma loved the military life she shared with Jerry, embracing postings in England, Spokane, Washington, Burns Flat, Oklahoma (where she was close to her Oklahoma roots), and Peru, Indiana. She was heavily involved in the officers' wives club, organizing many activities. One of her favorite passions was playing Mahjong, Canasta, and other card games with friends, as well as knitting and making beautiful afghan blankets.
A gifted cook, Norma's greatest pleasure was preparing delicious meals, beautiful cakes and pies, candies, and cookies for family and friends. She loved traveling with Jerry, had a good sense of humor, and was known for her generous giving spirit and unconditional love.
Later in life, she enjoyed a rewarding 15-year career with the Turnpike Authority, where she made many dear friends.
Her husband Jerry preceded her in death just four short months ago. Norma is survived by her sisters, Melba Dickerson and LaDonna Perring (Gary Joe); her children, Randall Hildebrand, Dennis Craig Hildebrand (Gail), and Christy Suttles (Doug); her grandchildren, Josh Hildebrand, Laura Winkler, and Tom Suttles; her great-grandchildren, Owen, Brayson, Lucy, Hadley, and McCoy; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
