It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Elaine M. Becker of Rochester, NY — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

These few paragraphs cannot hold a life, but they may carry a memory.

Elaine spent her working life as ['Rochester Gas &amp'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Quiet kindness echoes longest.

Elaine M. Becker (Benson), passed away peacefully, April 29, 2026, at 90 years old. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard; parents, Florence and Roy Benson; sister Diane and her husband Earle Nowack; brother David; and sister-in-law Mary Ellen.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa (Michael) Brookmire; son John (Laura) Becker; sister Karen Benson (Judy Andrews); beloved grandchildren Nicholas and Rachael (Matthew) Becker; brother-in-law Douglas; as well as nephews and nieces.

Elaine attended St Ambrose School and graduated from Mercy High School. She retired from Rochester Gas & Electric after 15 years, of working in Customer Service and Billing. She was active at St. James Church, Peace of Christ Parish for many years, where she sang in the choir.

She enjoyed the wildlife in the wetlands near her home and her walks along the lake visiting her neighbors. She spent time exploring the ocean vistas of California and Yosemite with her adventurous daughter and son-in-law.

Her happy place was always, her cottage on the St. Lawrence River. She fell in love with the river at a young age with her family and that love carried through her entire life. She and Richard gathered their children and grandchildren and made a lifetime of memories. She enjoyed her swims and always dove off the dock.

There are no calling hours, or service planned at this time. A celebration of life to be determined later. Enjoy the wildlife, the lake, the river and take a dive off the dock in her honor!
