It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Sylvia Cantrell of Salyersville, KY — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
Some lives speak quietly; her is one such story.
Sylvia held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
The traditions Sylvia loved will continue to hold those she loved.
Sylvia Cantrell age 68 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Monday, May 04, 2026 at the Paintsville ARH Hospital in Paintsville, Kentucky. She was born May 15, 1957 in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Ivan and Ann Edith Cantrell.
Survived by three daughters, Julie (Flipp) Risner of Salyersville, Kentucky, Sarah Ann Cantrell of Salyersville, Kentucky, Jessica Raymania Louise Cantrell of Lexington, Kentucky, one sister, Barbara Meade of Salyersville, Kentucky, five grandchildren, Ivanna Chiow of Lexington, Kentucky, Julianna Woods of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Jaiden Risner of Jackson, Kentucky, Haley Risner of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Chance Risner of Salyersville, Kentucky, two great grandchildren, Laiden Chiow, and Lillian Chiow.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cantrell, two sisters, Louise Barker, and Alice Tackett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 08, 2026 from the Flat Fork Freewill Baptist Church with Larry Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Fork Cemetery at Lacy Creek, Kentucky. Friends may visit the church Wednesday, May 06, 2026 after 5:00 P.M., all day on Thursday, May 07, 2026, and and time prior to funeral services on Friday.
