It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Tamra Arnett of Salyersville, KY — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
What remains is memory — and the gratitude of those she loved.
What we carry forward is the light others gave us.
Tamra Arnett, age 78, of Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away on May 5, 2026, at the Lantern at Morning Pointe in Russell, Kentucky.
She was born September 3, 1947, in Fredville, Kentucky, to the late John T. and Josephine Hale Arnett. A graduate of Salyersville High School (Class of 1965) and Morehead State University, she devoted her career to teaching in the Magoffin County School System, spending many years at John T. Arnett Elementary School. She especially loved teaching third grade and was remembered for her creativity and dedication to her students.
Tamra was a woman of strong faith who loved the Lord, gospel music, and time spent in Bible study. She enjoyed traveling, treasured time with family and friends, and had a special love for animals. Later in life, she resided at the Lantern at Morning Pointe, where she was dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David Arnett.
She is survived by her two sisters, Edna (Ronnie) Meadows and June (John) Montgomery; one brother-in-law, Calvin Pitts; her nieces and nephews, Chris (Nickie) Meadows, Kelli Montgomery, Greg Pitts, Kristy Rife, Mike Brown, and Connie Olson; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Riley, Reed, Colin, Juliette, Jamie, Wesley, Callie, Jill, Derrik, and Cortney, along with extended family and friends.
Tamra will be remembered as a devoted teacher and a loving family member whose life was marked by faith, kindness, and quiet joy
Entombment for Tamra Arnett will be conducted Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM from Davidson Memorial Gardens, 5287 Route 23, Ivel, Kentucky. The family will leave the Salyersville Funeral Home on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 10:30 AM in funeral procession to the cemetery. Contributions can me made to the Magoffin County Animal Shelter in her honor in lieu of flowers.
