With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Deborah Covey of Louisville, KY.

These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.

Deborah held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

A life of belief is a life of quiet conversation with something larger.

Deborah Covey, 66, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was a member of Shelbyville First Baptist Church.

She had been a Librarian at Wright Elementary and loved to spend her spare time reading. Deborah also enjoyed attending bible study.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Covey & Gladys Covey Foster (J.T.); and her brothers, Jeff & Billy Covey.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Peggy Covey and Julie Covey; her nieces and nephews, Heather Scott (Ted), Renska Martin (Mckain), Jennifer Cunningham (Harrison), John Covey, Max Covey, Justin Covey; and her great nieces, Hadley Scott and Marley Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. EDT on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Shelbyville First Baptist Church. Visitation will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. CDT at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Albany, Kentucky.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Shelbyville First Baptist Church.
