Robert Becker of Louisville, KY, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

Below, a small portrait of a life that will not soon be forgotten.

Robert held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

What is held in faith is rarely lost.

Robert "Bob" Clayton Becker, 91, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026. A man of remarkable intellect, ambition, and profound loyalty,

Bob's life was defined by a storied corporate career, a legendary capacity for friendship, and a deep devotion to his family.

Born and raised on the west side of Louisville, Bob was a proud alumnus of Holy Cross School and Flaget High School. A lifelong Flaget fan, he carried the school spirit with him through every chapter of his life, including his friendship with teammate Paul Hornung.

Bob was also an active member of the Torro Social Club of West Louisville.

An enthusiast of all sports, Bob used the game as a bridge to his children. He and his son, Steven, traveled the globe following the PGA Tour and made an annual pilgrimage to Notre Dame and Green Bay Packer football games.

Bob's curiosity made him a passionate traveler. With his son, John, he traveled yearly to NASCAR races in Daytona and Talladega; their campsite was a hub of hospitality marked by a sign naming Bob the "Mayor of Beckerville."

To his daughter, Carolyn, he was a coach and mentor, teaching her the lifelong values of both team collaboration and individual grit.

He explored the globe on numerous cruises and international trips with his family, frequently traveling with his daughter, Patsy, and son-in-law, Dale, finally visiting the places he had heard about throughout his life.

Bob was a lifelong Kentucky Wildcat fan, a card-carrying member of the Big Blue Nation, and his blood ran Kentucky blue.

Bob was a devout Catholic his entire life and completed a pilgrimage to Lourdes. He was an avid daily viewer of Catholic programming on Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN).

Bob's professional journey was a classic success story. He began as a railroad clerk and rose through the corporate ranks of Louisville & Nashville (L&N), Seaboard Coast Line (SCL), and CSX Corporation. He concluded his distinguished career as the President and CEO of Railroad Publication Services, in Atlanta, GA.

In Atlanta, Bob was a fixture at a local club known as "The Zoo." He visited daily, where his "Zoo Crew" friends looked out for him with a designated parking spot at the front door, a reserved bar stool, and his own personal collection of glasses that he brought from home.

This tribute would not be complete without mentioning his loyal and steadfast friend, Tim White. Over the last 15 years, Bob and Tim forged an extraordinary companionship. Tim was the Tonto to Bob's Lone Ranger, the Festus to Bob's Marshall Matt Dillon, the Barney to Bob's Sheriff Andy Taylor, and-perhaps most accurately-the Leroy to Bob's Larry David. Tim's wonderful care and devotion earned him the title of "Honorary Becker," and he remains a beloved member of the family.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor Lorenz Becker, his parents George and Edith Becker, and his brother George Becker Jr. (Darlys). He is survived by his four children, Carolyn Becker Reynolds (Mark), Patricia Becker Brown (Gerald), John Clayton Becker (Amy), and Steven Bernard Becker (Cecilia); as well as his 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, along with his "Honorary" Becker, Tim White.

Bob will be remembered for his visionary leadership, his competitive spirit, and the vast network of friends who became his family.

Bob's visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2026, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Louisville, KY, from 9-10 am with Funeral Mass at 10 am.

Interment will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to McLeod Hospice House of Florence South Carolina, EWTN or Tunnel2Towers in Bob's memory.
